Encouraging Research Awareness Among Graduate Students
Gyeongsang National University held the 27th Young Pioneer Researcher Day event on the afternoon of the 11th at 2 PM in the main auditorium on the 2nd floor of the GNU Convention Center at the Gajwa Campus.
The Graduate School of Gyeongsang National University designates one week each spring and fall as Young Pioneer Researcher Week every year to promote research awareness among graduate students, encourage those who have achieved outstanding results, enhance future national competitiveness, and lay the foundation for growth as a research-oriented university by organizing various events.
Young Pioneer Researcher Day is a commemorative ceremony during Young Pioneer Researcher Week, featuring congratulatory performances, welcome speeches, congratulatory remarks, student representative greetings, awards for outstanding papers (Grand Prize, Excellence Award, Merit Award, Pioneer Award), awards for outstanding international joint research, awards for excellent speech contest participants, awards for outstanding innovation small group (Inno-class) mentoring (IMP), awards for outstanding research teams, awards for contributions, and acceptance speeches.
The Outstanding Paper Award was given to graduate students who published papers as first authors in academic journals indexed by the Korea Research Foundation or higher in the humanities and social sciences fields.
This year, a total of 99 people received the Outstanding Paper Award. The Grand Prize, which is the President’s Award, was awarded to Lee Jae-hee from the Department of Civil Engineering; the Excellence Award was given to Lee Jae-yeon from the Department of Energy Systems Engineering, Lee Do-hyun from the Department of Nano New Materials Convergence Engineering, Vuong Thi Nguyen from the Department of Applied Life Sciences, Snowy Jane Carinogalgalgo, Bazildayeva Talsin from the Department of Chemistry, Ahn Hyung-seok from the Department of Convergence Medical Science, and Jung Sun-young from the Department of Education. The Merit Award and Pioneer Award were given to 13 and 69 recipients, respectively.
The Outstanding Research Team Award was given to eight teams: Professor Kim Myung-ok’s team and Professor Heo Ho-jin’s team from the Department of Applied Life Sciences, Professor Noh Hyun-soo’s team from the Department of Bio Medical Big Data, Professor Jung Jong-hwa’s team, Professor Choi Myung-ryong’s team, Professor Choi Jae-won’s team from the Department of Chemistry, Professor Jo Han-ik’s team from the Department of Education, and Professor Shin Ui-cheol from the Department of Life Resources Science.
President Kwon Soon-gi said, “I hope Gyeongsang National University will continue to focus on research to become a research-oriented university and grow into excellent researchers leading a knowledge-driven society,” adding, “The university headquarters plans to provide broad and diverse institutional support to establish a research foundation for young pioneer researchers who will play a pivotal role in regional innovation and national development.”
