Cheongsan Walk, Cheongsando Worth Seeing, Snail Postcard Popularity
Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do, recorded approximately 80,000 visitors to the ‘2023 Cheongsando Slow Walking Festival,’ held from the 8th of last month to the 7th of this month.
According to the county on the 11th, this year’s festival was held under the theme ‘Spring Spring Spring Healing Garden, Come to Cheongsando,’ with 1,628 participants joining the representative program ‘Cheongsan Wanbo,’ which involves walking 11 courses of the Cheongsando Slow Road.
Programs such as ‘Cheongsando with Stars to See,’ where visitors take memorable photos with the night sky, stars, and the Milky Way of Cheongsando, and the ‘Night Tour Bus,’ where participants listen to stories of Cheongsando while stargazing and enjoy ‘star gazing meditation,’ were so popular that all sessions were sold out.
The ‘Cheongsando Snail Postcard,’ where postcards sent arrive one year later, saw all 1,600 prepared postcards fully used.
About 500 participants joined the ‘Plogging Campaign,’ conducted to preserve Cheongsando’s beautiful environment, collecting trash and receiving eco-friendly kits afterward.
New programs introduced this year were also very popular.
The event ‘Find the Snail,’ which involved finding Cheongsando residents transformed into snails, attracted over 4,300 participants, and the Cheongsan Marine Healing Park, equipped with healing facilities such as sound, scent, seaweed, foot baths, and herb maekbansuk stones, welcomed around 1,200 visitors during the period, who experienced marine healing and enjoyed a relaxing time.
In particular, the festival operated a ‘Festival School,’ where about 30 residents directly planned and conducted programs, and ran the ‘Cheongsando Resident Tourism Office,’ earning praise for becoming a resident-led festival.
A county official said, “Thanks to the cooperation and great interest of the residents over the month, we were able to successfully conclude the festival. We will continue to make efforts so that many people visit Cheongsando, Asia’s first Slow City, not only during the festival but throughout the year to heal and revitalize tourism in Cheongsando.”
