Gyeonggi Northern Provincial Police Agency and Nugu Bizcall Supply MOU
SK Telecom announced on the 11th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Gyeonggi Northern Provincial Police Agency to supply 'NUGU bizcall'.
The agreement, held at the Gyeonggi Northern Provincial Police Agency, was attended by key officials including SKT's Lee Hyun-ah, head of Comm Services, and Lee Moon-soo, chief of the Gyeonggi Northern Provincial Police Agency. They mutually pledged to actively strengthen the social safety net based on artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
NUGU bizcall is an AI call platform based on conversational voice recognition technology. It can provide customized guidance by adjusting speech speed and voice tone according to various scenarios. SKT and the Gyeonggi Northern Provincial Police Agency plan to use NUGU bizcall to guide victims of stalking, dating violence, and domestic violence on protection and support systems after reporting to 112.
Police stations within the jurisdiction of the Gyeonggi Northern Provincial Police Agency will use NUGU bizcall to ask victims whether safety measures such as increased residential patrols, provision of temporary shelters, and rental of location tracking devices are needed, or to start expert counseling referral services. For example, if the police station schedules a call scenario and the date and time of the call for the victim, NUGU bizcall will make the call on behalf of the officer and provide guidance such as “Would you like to apply for psychological counseling referral?” or “Do you need information on victim safety measures?”
SKT and the Gyeonggi Northern Provincial Police Agency stated that, based on this agreement, they plan to actively introduce NUGU bizcall in various areas of communication with citizens, such as traffic safety and civil complaint guidance. NUGU bizcall is already used in various fields including fee delinquency notifications, post-monitoring of hospital patients, and care calls for elderly living alone in the community, involving customer data collection and counseling.
Lee Hyun-ah, head of SKT Comm Services, said, “We expect NUGU bizcall to be actively used to protect crime victims through this business agreement,” and added, “We will continue to take the lead in building a social safety net using AI.”
