Lee Soo-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, and Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, Nominated to Join the 'Single-Use Products Zero Challenge'
Lee Soo-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, announced on the 18th that she will participate in the 'Single-Use Products Zero Challenge,' a pledge to reduce the use of single-use products in daily life.
Starting with Han Hwa-jin, Minister of Environment, on February 27, the 'Single-Use Products Zero Challenge' has been joined by various organizations. It is a nationwide relay campaign encouraging the reduction of single-use product usage in everyday life to promote resource circulation and environmental protection.
Having been nominated by Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, Mayor Lee Soo-hee also introduced five methods to practice zero waste called the '5R Movement' via SNS on April 14, along with eco-friendly policies promoted in Gangdong-gu. She nominated National Assembly member Jo Eun-hee and Seoul City Council member Choi Ho-jeong as the next challengers.
Gangdong-gu has received high praise for implementing various eco-friendly policies and activities such as the Green Commute Challenge, Climate Crisis Photo Exhibition, Vegetarian Day, Plogging Campaign, and discounts for using reusable cups at the cafe inside the government office.
Mayor Lee Soo-hee stated, “If small actions in daily life accumulate, we can pass on a healthier planet to the next generation,” and added, “I hope residents will actively participate as well.”
