Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) is promoting the ‘Welcome Happiness Box’ gift project called ‘Eunbit SOL Life’ to help middle-aged single-person households who have moved into Eunpyeong adapt to their new life.

‘Eunbit SOL Life’ means supporting the moving-in ‘life’ of the shining (‘bit’) single-person (‘sol’) households in Eunpyeong (‘Eun’), and it is one of the specialized projects of Eunpyeong-gu’s single-person household policy ‘Eunbit SOL.’

Middle-aged single-person households newly moving into Eunpyeong will receive a ‘Welcome Happiness Box’ containing a comprehensive guidebook with useful policy information and daily necessities. This aims to improve information accessibility and help adapt to the new living environment.

The ‘Welcome Happiness Box’ includes a comprehensive guidebook and a first aid kit as basic components, and recipients can choose one among three types: ‘Safety,’ ‘Home Training,’ or ‘Daily Life.’ The ‘Safety Set’ includes safety-related items such as fingerprint prevention film and throwable fire extinguisher; the ‘Home Training Set’ contains items to assist home exercise like a yoga mat and stretching bands; and the ‘Daily Life Set’ is composed of items such as tissue paper and toothpaste.

The support targets 1,000 middle-aged single-person households born between 1958 and 1983 who have moved into Eunpyeong from other cities or districts this year. Applications will be accepted starting from the 24th at the local community service centers or online. After verifying eligibility, the Welcome Happiness Box will be delivered to the applicant’s address.

When applying, a lifestyle survey designed with items to assess the risk of solitary death will also be conducted. The plan is not only to help new residents adapt but also to early identify vulnerable households at risk of isolation or solitary death.

Going forward, the district will establish a management system to prevent risks for vulnerable households and provide tailored services through public-private cooperation. For application methods and detailed information, please refer to the announcement on the district’s website or the district blog post.

Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, “I hope this helps middle-aged single-person households adapt to unfamiliar environments, and I expect that discovering vulnerable households and connecting them to services will also prevent solitary deaths. We will take the lead in creating a happy and healthy city for single-person households and support the lives of the shining solo single-person households who are starting anew in Eunpyeong.”
