The Ministry of Environment issued a 'Concern' level Yellow Dust Crisis Alert for 17 cities and provinces nationwide at 5 p.m. on the 11th.

This is due to the forecast that fine dust (PM10) caused by yellow dust will be 'Very Bad' (daily average concentration exceeding 150㎍/㎥).

The Yellow Dust Crisis Alert is issued in four stages: Concern - Caution - Warning - Serious.

According to the Ministry of Environment and the Korea Meteorological Administration, yellow dust occurred on the 10th centered around the Gobi Desert and Inner Mongolian Plateau, and on the 11th around Manchuria.

The previously generated yellow dust began to be observed from around 4 p.m. on the same day at Baengnyeongdo and other locations.

This yellow dust is expected to remain suspended in the air over South Korea, but it will affect some western regions and increase fine dust concentrations.

The yellow dust generated on the 11th will enter the country riding the northwest wind and cover the entire nation on the 12th and 13th.

The National Institute of Environmental Research under the Ministry of Environment expects the nationwide fine dust levels to be 'Very Bad' on the 12th and 13th.
