Pasto Yongin1 Center Also Receives Grade 1 Certification
Some Costs Supported by Government Upon Certification
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 11th that, after an evaluation by the Korea Transport Institute, the certification body for smart logistics centers, Lotte Central Region Mega Hub Terminal (Lotte Global Logistics) and Fasto Yongin 1 Center (Fasto) have been certified as the first smart logistics centers of the year.
Located in Jincheon, Chungbuk, Lotte Central Region Mega Hub Terminal and Fasto Yongin 1 Center in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do, both received a first-grade rating in the final evaluation after document review and on-site verification.
The smart logistics center certification system is a government certification program for logistics centers that adopt advanced equipment and systems to achieve excellent efficiency and safety. Certified logistics centers receive partial government support for the costs invested in advanced technologies.
Since its introduction in 2021, a total of 33 logistics centers from various distribution and logistics companies, ranging from large corporations such as CJ and Hanjin to small and medium-sized enterprises like Sejung Shipping and Cretech, have been certified as smart logistics centers.
The Lotte Central Region Mega Hub Terminal has established an advanced system based on big data and artificial intelligence (AI) throughout the entire terminal to enhance the efficiency of logistics center operations.
In particular, it has introduced cutting-edge equipment such as an AI shape recognition sorting system that automatically recognizes and processes cargo shapes based on artificial intelligence, a 5-sided barcode scanner, and an optimized volume distribution system to improve logistics efficiency.
Fasto is the first small and medium-sized enterprise to receive smart logistics center certification and is actively investing in logistics advancement by independently developing advanced logistics equipment and technologies.
At Fasto Yongin 1 Center, which recently received smart logistics center certification, an automated warehouse system (Auto Store) capable of robot picking was introduced to reduce picking time for retrieving products in the logistics center, along with a state-of-the-art sorter (Sure Sort) that performs sorting and packaging tasks at high speed. Additionally, autonomous mobile robots are utilized throughout logistics operations to actively apply advanced technologies for productivity improvement and logistics cost reduction.
Kang Ju-yeop, Director of Logistics Policy at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, stated, "We will further expand the benefits of smart logistics center certification to support logistics companies in making active investments, and the government will firmly support accelerating the advancement of the logistics industry."
