Participation in the '2023 Smart City Summit & Expo'
Hyundai Rotem will participate in the Taiwan Smart City Expo to showcase its railway solutions.
Hyundai Rotem announced on the 31st that it will participate in the '2023 Smart City Summit & Expo (2023 SCSE)' held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, from the 30th of last month to the 1st of next month (local time).
Since its first event in 2014, SCSE has been Taiwan's representative smart city expo that annually exhibits smart city-related technologies and products and hosts related forums and events. Hyundai Rotem is participating in SCSE for the second time, following last year.
Through this expo, Hyundai Rotem will focus on promoting its vision and competitiveness in the railway sector, a core mobility component of smart cities. It will introduce its capabilities as a global comprehensive railway company, centered on a range of railway vehicles incorporating advanced technologies such as high-speed trains and hydrogen fuel cell trams, as well as projects currently underway in Taiwan.
First, it will showcase a lineup of railway vehicles categorized by speed. Starting with the 140km/h class commuter electric multiple units (EMUs) for the Taiwan Railways Administration, it will present the 180km/h class semi-high-speed mainline train GTX-A EMUs, and the 320km/h class distributed power high-speed train EMU-320, demonstrating its railway vehicle technological capabilities.
It will also exhibit the hydrogen fuel cell tram currently under development, presenting a blueprint for eco-friendly railway mobility. Hyundai Rotem's hydrogen fuel cell tram is characterized by its air purification effect during the hydrogen fuel cell operation process, producing clean urban air. Hyundai Rotem plans to complete the development of the hydrogen fuel cell tram this year.
Given that the expo is held in Taiwan, significant attention will be given to introducing the status of ongoing projects locally. Exhibits will include the TRA commuter EMUs, Taoyuan Green Line driverless light rail, Kaohsiung Red Line EMUs, and Taipei Metro EMUs, allowing visitors to get an overview of Hyundai Rotem's projects in Taiwan.
Additionally, Hyundai Rotem has prepared VR experience devices so that visitors can realistically experience Hyundai Rotem railway vehicles. Visitors can virtually explore the interior and exterior designs of Hyundai Rotem vehicles, including the concept model of the Kaohsiung Red Line EMU ordered by Hyundai Rotem.
A Hyundai Rotem official stated, "Through the 2023 SCSE, we will showcase railway mobility solutions for building smart cities and promote our related capabilities. Based on quality and technological expertise proven in the global market, we will continue research and development to strengthen future railway competitiveness."
