Interest among local netizens is heating up over Maye Musk (75), mother of Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, and a senior model, visiting China.
On the 28th (local time), Hong Kong's South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported, "News of Maye Musk's arrival in China spread like wildfire on Chinese social networking services (SNS)," adding, "Even before she arrived, cheers of 'Musk's supermodel mom is coming to China!' erupted."
According to the report, a Chinese blogger with 1.2 million followers posted on Weibo, "The first stop of Musk mom's first visit to China is Guangzhou. Has anyone met her?" Chinese netizens are showing enthusiastic interest in Maye's visit to China.
SCMP stated that Maye's popularity began when the Chinese edition of her 2020 book, A Woman Makes a Plan, was published. The book, written by Maye herself, is autobiographical in nature.
The Chinese publisher promoted the book by highlighting the most captivating moments of Maye's life. Famous Chinese bloggers posted articles about Maye's glamorous life, and she subsequently emerged as a "role model" among Chinese netizens.
The publisher introduced, "Maye debuted as a model at age 15 and married at 22, but by 31, she became a penniless single mother raising three children. Nevertheless, she raised her three children excellently and earned two master's degrees."
At the age of 75, Maye remains active as a senior model, author, and clinical nutritionist. She divorced her husband at 31, nine years after marriage, moved to the United States, and raised her three children, including Elon Musk, independently.
She began gaining recognition as a senior model close to the age of 60. At 67, she was selected as a model for Virgin America Airlines, and at 69, she became the oldest model for the makeup brand CoverGirl. She has overcome hardships and challenges in the modeling industry with positive energy and a spirit of challenge, becoming an inspiration to many.
Meanwhile, Maye is reported to be visiting several Chinese cities including Guangzhou, Xiamen, Chengdu, and Suzhou, where she will hold book signing events.
