On the 29th, the Ministry of Education will hold the ‘Regional Innovation-Centered University Support System (RISE) Pilot Area City/Province Training Session’ at the Central Education Training Institute located in Daegu.
At the training session, over 50 participants including university administrative staff from seven pilot areas?Gyeongnam, Gyeongbuk, Daegu, Busan, Jeonnam, Jeonbuk, and Chungbuk?RISE center staff from the cities and provinces, and Ministry of Education officials will share operational plans and discuss the successful implementation of RISE.
The session aims to enhance the understanding of city/province officials regarding the RISE system and university support projects, which are scheduled for full implementation after 2025, and to conduct consultations on tasks that cities and provinces must undertake, such as establishing RISE centers and formulating RISE plans.
The Ministry of Education plans to distribute the ‘Pilot Area Operation Guide (Ver 1.0)’ to each city and province, provide detailed information on the pilot operation, and proceed with related consultations.
Additionally, starting in April, the Ministry will form a ‘RISE Consulting Team’ composed of experts with a high level of understanding of regional industries and universities to provide support tailored to each city and province.
The RISE Consulting Team, consisting of five members per city/province, will support the cities and provinces through various methods such as online and offline consultations and field visits, while also inspecting on-site conditions to identify areas for improvement in the RISE system.
Choi Eun-hee, Director of Talent Policy at the Ministry of Education, stated, “Starting with this training session, the seven pilot areas will rapidly establish the RISE system and accelerate the creation of a model for region-led university financial support projects to be implemented after 2025. From the second half of this year, we plan to disseminate the achievements of the pilot areas to non-pilot areas so that all 17 cities and provinces can prepare for the introduction of the RISE system in 2025.”
