Bullet Fired from 5.5mm Air Rifle Found Near Chin
Investigation Expanded to Firearms Managed by Nearby Police Station
A man walking on the street was injured after being hit by a bullet presumed to have been fired from an air gun, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
According to the Icheon Police Station in Gyeonggi Province on the 28th, Yonhap News reported that on the 9th at around 5 p.m., a man in his 20s, Mr. A, who was walking from Icheon Station toward Yulhyeon Intersection in Icheon City, was hit by a bullet in the right jaw area.
At the hospital, a bullet believed to have been fired from a 5.5mm air gun was found in Mr. A's jaw. The bullet was deformed, and the police believe that, given this condition, it is likely a ricochet bullet (a bullet that deviated from its original trajectory after hitting an obstacle) rather than a direct shot.
The police explained that the accident was not caused by a firearm managed by the Icheon Police Station.
A police official stated, "According to GPS records at the time, there was one firearm issued by the Icheon Police Station nearby, but it was confirmed to be a firearm that uses a completely different type of bullet from the one that hit Mr. A."
The police plan to expand the investigation to include firearms managed by nearby police stations.
