The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education is producing a resource book to promote student-centered English classes and enhance the professionalism of secondary English teachers through English-speaking cultural lessons.
The resource book was planned to apply the experiences and materials gained from experiencing and exploring English-speaking cultures during the overseas training for strengthening the professionalism of secondary English teachers held last February to classroom lessons.
With this resource book, students can learn English while also learning about the culture and history of Scotland.
The resource book is divided into three parts: Applying teaching methods in the classroom, Applying Scottish culture in the classroom, and Reviewing lectures, and is produced in 225 pages.
The main contents include project-based classes using digital technology, creating videos about my dreams, and project-based English classes (PBL) through blended learning, providing teachers with lesson plans and student activity materials.
It also offers learning materials such as project-based learning using poems by Robert Burns, Scotland's national poet, making tourism introduction videos (project type), and "Do you still hate today?" among others.
The resource book can be downloaded from the Student-Centered Class Sharing Materials - Class Content menu on the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education's student-centered class website.
An official from the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education said, "We hope this resource book will help in understanding English-speaking cultures and serve as an opportunity to activate students' participation in classes."
