The 10 books selected as the 2023 "Most Beautiful Books in Korea," awarded by the Seoul International Book Fair hosted by the Korea Publishers Association, have been announced. This year, marking the 4th edition, 128 companies submitted 188 titles for the competition.
The award-winning works are ▲ Archiving Book '1-14' (6699 Press, Designer Lee Jaeyoung) ▲ Magazine 'them Issue 2' (Them, Designer Inyang) ▲ Essay 'Each Person Dreams a Sweet Dream They Want, See You Again Tomorrow' (Semicolon, Designer Kim Hyungjin) ▲ Essay 'What Comes First?' (Press Press, Designer Jung Daebong) ▲ Sheet Music Collection 'Non-quantitative Prelude' and others (Workshop Ghost, Designers Kim Hyungjin, Yoo Hyunsun) ▲ Poetry Collection 'The Beloved Boy Lives Under the Ice' (Flow of Time, Designer Na Jongwi) ▲ Essay 'Salario Minimo' (Goat, Designer Kang Munsik) ▲ Magazine 'Useful Fools Issue 0' (Sezejdisyon & Le Megot Edition, Designer Oh Hyejin) ▲ Picture Book 'Ttokkijeon' (Some Books, Designer Jo Seongyeong) ▲ Picture Book 'Grandmother’s House Keeper' (NCSoft, Designer Formula).
The selected works will be automatically submitted to the international book design competition "The Most Beautiful Books in the World," jointly operated by the German Book Art Foundation and the Leipzig Book Fair. Among the 2020 awardees, the drawing book 'Feuilles (Poeuil)' won the highest honor, the 'Golden Letter,' at the 2021 "Most Beautiful Books in the World."
Among the 10 awarded books, one will be chosen as the grand prize winner of the "Most Beautiful Book in Korea," which will be announced at the "2023 Seoul International Book Fair" held at COEX, Samseong-dong, on June 14.
