Baz International, led by Park Seri, signed a 'Business Agreement for the Development of Sports and Culture in Yongin Special City' with Yongin City Hall on the 13th. Baz International and Yongin City will collaborate on projects such as nurturing golf talent, sports development, and promoting culture and the arts.
The newly established Golf R&D Center will focus on popularizing golf and nurturing junior players by developing educational programs, planning tournaments, training instructors, and providing experiential programs for local residents. Additionally, it plans to support promising golf players in the Yongin area and promote the establishment of a 'Golf Hall of Fame' in Yongin City, including the PGA (Professional Golfers' Association), LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association), and Asia.
There are also plans to create a golf theme park named 'Seri Park' (tentative), named after Park Seri. This space will combine sports, culture, arts, shopping, golf education, and experiential areas. However, specific investment scales and facility development plans will be discussed and finalized between Yongin City and Baz International.
Park Seri stated, "I believe it is my duty to create better conditions for juniors to train in a more favorable environment," adding, "I want to find raw gems among players and turn them into precious stones." She also mentioned, "Yongin City has locational advantages that can realize my dream," and "It did not take long to choose Yongin City." Currently, Yongin City is known as the 'Golf 8 School District' with more than 25 golf courses, the most in the country.
Previously, on September 26 last year, Park Seri was the only local government head nationwide to invite Mayor Lee to a dinner on the final day of the 'Park Seri Invitational' international golf tournament held at Incheon Cheongna Country Club (CC). Two months later, Mayor Lee invited Park Seri to Yongin City for a dinner where they discussed Baz International's investment plans for nurturing golf talent, sports development, and promoting culture and the arts. The plan was concretized after Park Seri visited Yongin City on the 3rd and expressed her intention to invest.
Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin City, emphasized, "This agreement is significant for the development of sports, including golf, in Yongin City," adding, "Using CEO Park Seri as a role model, it will give hope and boost confidence to young golf talents in Korea who are nurturing their dreams."
Meanwhile, Park Seri is a pioneer of Korean golf who entered the domestic professional golf scene in 1996 and joined the LPGA in 1998, achieving a total of 25 wins. She served as the women's golf team coach at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She established Baz International and is dedicated to social contributions and nurturing athletes.
