Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea, sent a congratulatory message to Xi Jinping, President of China, who succeeded in his third term on the 10th, according to a report by the Korean Central News Agency.

In the congratulatory message, Chairman Kim stated, "Respected General Secretary Comrade, I extend my warmest congratulations on your re-election as President of the People's Republic of China at the 1st session of the 14th National People's Congress of China."
He continued, "Your continuation in the important position of President of the People's Republic of China is a sign of the high trust and support from the Chinese Party, government, and people," and evaluated, "With the successful progress of the meeting, the Communist Party of China has firmly realized leadership over the entire state affairs and can vigorously promote the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era."
He further said, "Our Party, government, and people are pleased with the remarkable achievements made by the Chinese Party, government, and people in recent years, united firmly around you, Comrade General Secretary, in the struggle to build a socialist modernized country," and emphasized, "We are confident that the Chinese people will achieve new victories in fulfilling the tasks set forth by the 20th Party Congress under the leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China with you as the core."
Chairman Kim also stated, "Today, the two parties and two countries of North Korea and China are closely supporting and uniting to defend and advance the common cause of socialism," and expressed belief that "the traditional friendship between North Korea and China will continue to deepen and develop in response to the common aspirations of the peoples of the two parties and two countries and the demands of the new era."
Additionally, he added, "I wish for the prosperity and happiness of the people of the People's Republic of China," and "I pray for your good health and greater achievements in your work, General Secretary."
China's state-run Central Television (CCTV) reported that before the Korean Central News Agency's report was released on the same day, Chairman Kim warmly congratulated President Xi on his election through the congratulatory message.
On the same day, President Xi was unanimously elected as President of the People's Republic of China with 2,952 valid votes at the 3rd plenary session of the 1st session of the 14th National People's Congress held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. This marks the first time since the founding of the People's Republic of China that a president has served three consecutive terms.
