[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] Samsung Electronics announced that it will implement a software update to enhance personalized features in its artificial intelligence (AI) assistant 'Bixby' starting from the 23rd.
Through this update, Samsung Electronics has newly added the 'Create My Voice' feature. This feature can be used when utilizing the 'Answer Calls with Text' function, which converts voice to text during calls or converts text to voice.
'Answer Calls with Text' can be used when the recipient is unable to answer the phone. The content spoken by the caller is delivered to the recipient as 'text,' and the content typed by the recipient is delivered to the caller as 'voice.' At this time, if the user (recipient) has pre-set their own voice through the 'Create My Voice' feature, the text they input is converted into their own voice and delivered to the caller.
The method to pre-set one’s own voice is as follows: In 'Call Settings,' select 'Language and Voice Settings,' then choose 'Add Voice,' and select the 'Create My Voice' feature to set your own voice. The user reads and records 18 predefined sentences, and Bixby provides voice output services after undergoing an AI learning process.
Currently, the Korean 'Create My Voice' feature is supported on the Galaxy S23 series, and support for additional models will be expanded in the future. Furthermore, it is expected to be compatible with a wider range of Samsung apps beyond just call functions.
Meanwhile, the 'Answer Calls with Text' feature will support English in addition to Korean through this update.
With this update, Bixby users will be able to invoke Bixby not only with the two fixed wake words "Hi Bixby" and "Bixby," but also with user-defined keywords. Users can set their desired Bixby wake word as a 3 to 5 character phrase using the 'Create My Wake Word' feature. 'Create My Wake Word' is supported in Korean on the Galaxy S23 series, with plans to expand supported models and languages in the future.
Kim Young-jip, Vice President and Head of AI Team at Samsung Electronics MX Division, said, "Samsung Electronics has a vision to make users’ lives more valuable through the Bixby AI assistant and to create an evolving H2M (Human-to-Machine) interface over time," adding, "We will continue to strive to build a more proactive system so that users can experience innovative mobile experiences."
