According to Mokpo Maritime Police on the 21st, a report was received at 6:01 a.m. of a fire of unknown cause on barge A at an aquaculture farm near Anjwa-do, Sinan-gun.

The maritime police quickly assembled a situation response team and dispatched two patrol vessels, one coastal rescue boat, one containment vessel, and the West Sea Special Rescue Unit to the scene to extinguish the fire.

At 6:16 a.m., just 15 minutes after the report, the maritime police patrol vessel arrived at the scene, immediately launched a high-speed boat, and used firefighting equipment to extinguish the fire, while deploying the containment vessel to handle any residual fire.

Fortunately, there were no crew members on board barge A at the time of the fire, so no casualties occurred.

The maritime police plan to investigate the detailed cause of the fire with the owner and related parties of barge A.
