[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Mapo-gu (District Mayor Park Kang-su) appointed announcer Lee Jae-yong as the promotional ambassador for the ‘Filial Piety Meal for Residents Aged 75 and Older’ (hereafter ‘Filial Piety Meal’) on the 20th.
With the pilot project for the Filial Piety Meal set to begin in April, the district appointed announcer Lee Jae-yong, who has a friendly and trustworthy image among the elderly, as the promotional ambassador to actively promote the project.
The appointment ceremony was held on the afternoon of the 20th in the Mapo-gu Office’s main conference room, and to signify the dedication involved in preparing the Filial Piety Meal, the ambassador was given the title of ‘Head Chef.’
Announcer Lee Jae-yong said, “Every project faces challenges at the beginning, but I am honored to contribute, even if modestly, to Mapo’s new Filial Piety Meal project,” adding, “I will support and actively contribute to ensuring this project is successfully established and widely expanded.”
As the promotional ambassador for the Filial Piety Meal, Lee Jae-yong will participate in related events and promotional activities for the next two years, leading efforts to raise awareness of the project.
Park Kang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, stated, “Since the Filial Piety Meal is a public-private collaborative project, active participation from residents through volunteering and one-person-one-share sponsorships is essential,” and added, “In this context, Head Chef Lee Jae-yong has long shown a friendly and trustworthy image on broadcasts, so we expect him to greatly help increase residents’ interest and widely promote the Filial Piety Meal project.”
The Filial Piety Meal project provides free balanced lunches to residents aged 75 and older in Mapo who require meal support, aiming to prevent hunger and malnutrition.

The project is not simply about providing food but aims to operate as an integrated service that manages daily life as well. In particular, through the Mapo Welfare Foundation, a one-person-one-share campaign is being promoted, and the entire project budget is funded through resident participation rather than public funds.
