[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] The Jeju Western Fire Station conducted a special mountain rescue training from the 10th to the 17th around the Hallasan Gwaneumsa course, Barimeo Oreum, and Nokcome Oreum areas.
According to the Jeju Western Fire Station on the 17th, the number of mountain accident dispatches has been steadily increasing with 46 cases in 2020, 85 cases in 2021, and 94 cases in 2022, and the number of rescued people has also been rising annually with 18 in 2020, 44 in 2021, and 47 in 2022.

This training was attended by all 119 rescue team members of the Western Fire Station and was conducted as practical training to establish a rapid response system in preparation for hikers' distress accidents and falls during climbing.
The main training contents included the use of natural securing materials, horizontal and vertical rescue, inspection of disaster safety communication networks and satellite phone communication, response to distress accidents using smartphone GPS, mountain accident response procedures, and safety accident prevention education.
Chief Kim Youngho said, "Through this training, we will enhance the mountain rescue expertise of the rescue team members and do our best to ensure the safety of residents through rapid response."
