Sancheong-gun Launches Full-Scale Cadastral Resurvey Project

178ha Area of Sincheon District, Sicheon-myeon

Resident Briefing Held After Plan Establishment

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is set to actively promote the 2023 cadastral resurvey project. According to the county, this year’s cadastral resurvey project target area is Sincheon District in Sicheon-myeon (around Sincheon-ri 3), covering 1.78 million square meters (2,045 parcels), with completion aimed by 2024, the county announced on the 15th.

The cadastral resurvey project targets areas where the cadastral records, created on paper 100 years ago, do not match the actual land use status. Through cadastral surveying and land investigation, the registered details in the cadastral records are corrected and the national land information is digitized. The cadastral resurvey surveying cost (400 million KRW) is fully supported by national funds.

The county has completed the establishment of the implementation plan and public inspection for residents in the Sincheon District, which was selected as the target area this year. Additionally, two residents’ briefing sessions were held in December last year and on the 4th of this month to explain the project’s purpose, procedures, and overall details, and to collect residents’ opinions.

Accordingly, Sancheong-gun plans to apply to Gyeongnam Province for district designation after obtaining consent from more than two-thirds of landowners and more than two-thirds of the land area. Once designated as a cadastral resurvey district, the project will proceed through cadastral resurvey surveying, boundary consultations, and review by the Boundary Determination Committee to finalize boundaries and complete the cadastral resurvey project.

A county official stated, “To achieve the consent rate, the interest and cooperation of landowners and village residents are urgently needed,” adding, “We will continue to promote the cadastral resurvey project more swiftly for national land efficiency and protection of citizens’ property rights.”

According to an analysis by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, which overlaid maps before and after the cadastral resurvey project, the land utilization value has significantly improved after project completion, including land shape regularization, resolution of building encroachments, and elimination of blind spots.
