Securing Future Growth Engines for SMEs through Structural Innovation Support
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Lee Young, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry) and the Small and Medium Business Corporation (Chairman Kim Hak-do, hereinafter referred to as SBC) announced on the 13th that they are recruiting companies to participate in the '2023 Structural Innovation Support Project' to help small and medium enterprises overcome complex crises and successfully transition to new business and new technology sectors.
The Structural Innovation Support Project is a package program designed to promote the entry of SMEs into new business fields to prevent rapid industrial environmental changes such as digital and future car transitions from leading to management crises. It supports ▲ business transformation consulting for industry conversion or addition to new business fields ▲ digital transformation consulting to enhance digital capabilities ▲ industrial and job transition consulting to actively respond to changes in the labor environment, along with follow-up linked projects.
Participating companies can establish a structural innovation roadmap through expert diagnosis of their structural innovation response level and customized consulting tailored to the company's level in each field. Subsequently, SBC provides linked support such as business transformation approval, business transformation funds, tax benefits, preferential treatment in smart factory support projects, and labor transition employment stability agreement subsidies.
Starting this year, a dedicated policy manager will be assigned to provide close support throughout the entire process and cycle of the support project. Additionally, a structural innovation-exclusive research and development project supporting technology development for approved business transformation companies has been newly established to help participating companies succeed in structural innovation. This year, approximately 900 companies will receive diagnosis and about 1,110 companies will receive consulting. There is no cost burden for participating companies.
Kim Hak-do, Chairman of SBC, said, "To achieve the government's economic policy goals this year of overcoming crises and economic re-leap, it is important to provide policy support necessary for strengthening the competitiveness and innovative growth of SMEs, which are the foundation of the economy and the main agents of job creation." He added, "SBC will actively support SMEs to wisely overcome the global complex crisis and secure future growth engines based on proactive structural innovation."
