The Safe Jeonse app was launched on the 2nd of this month to address the information asymmetry between landlords and tenants, which is considered a major cause of jeonse fraud. It allows users to check key information to verify during jeonse contracts, such as market prices. It also offers various additional features, including a jeonse contract self-test.
The Ministry plans to expand the reach of the Safe Jeonse app led by youth through diverse online and offline promotional activities by the youth promotion group, aiming to protect young people with limited real estate transaction experience from the risks of jeonse fraud.
Recruitment for the youth promotion group will be held from today until the 17th on the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s website. Young people aged between 19 and 39 who are interested in preventing jeonse fraud can participate. The Ministry will select a total of 100 people considering motivation for application, age, gender, and region, and individual results will be announced starting on the 24th.
Those selected for the Safe Jeonse app youth promotion group will receive a certificate of appointment and will be active from March to June. They will engage in various promotional activities such as online promotion challenges and street promotions. Participants will receive a certificate of activity and a small prize (such as gifticons) through a lottery.
The Ministry also plans to recruit volunteers from the Youth Policy Committee and youth online panels, which are operated to promote youth policy participation. Minister Won Hee-ryong of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said, "The Safe Jeonse app needs to be activated to establish a stable housing foundation and protect property rights for young people," adding, "I hope many proactive and passionate young people participate and take the lead in eradicating jeonse fraud."
