A Total of 78 Items Submitted, Worth Approximately 4.5 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] K Auction announced on the 10th that it will hold its February auction on the afternoon of the 22nd at its headquarters in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
A total of 78 works, worth approximately 4.5 billion KRW, will be exhibited in this auction. The highlight is Park Soo-keun's 1950s work "Nosang," estimated at 450 million to 800 million KRW.
Works by Kim Whanki, Chun Kyungja, Yoon Hyongkeun, and Lee Ufan will also find new owners. Kim Whanki's 1970 work "Untitled," painted with mixed media on hanji paper, is estimated at 70 million to 200 million KRW. It reflects various formal experiments the artist attempted during his development into late-stage full-surface pointillism.
Modern and contemporary masters' paper works are also featured, including Yoon Hyongkeun's oil on paper "Untitled" (55 million to 180 million KRW) and Lee Ufan's watercolor on paper "Jo-eung" (38 million to 100 million KRW).
Chun Kyungja's 1974 work "Women of Ethiopia" (50 million to 90 million KRW) showcases unique colors and forms inspired by her travels to Ethiopia during a time when overseas travel was difficult, depicting exotic scenes and locals.
In the field of traditional art, paintings such as Pyoam Kang Sehwang's "Mookrando" and Sojeong Byeon Gwansik's "Oegumgang Samseonam" (外金剛三仙巖), as well as folk artifacts like Jeonju jang and Juchilban, are included.
International art editions by Yayoi Kusama, David Hockney, Tom Wesselmann, and Andy Warhol will also find new owners.
The auction items can be viewed free of charge at the K Auction exhibition hall from the 11th to the 22nd.
