Jeongeup-si Stops Sending Disaster Texts for 'New COVID-19 Cases' After 3 Years

[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] The disaster safety text messages reporting daily repeated new COVID-19 confirmed cases in Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk, will disappear after about three years.

The city announced that it will stop sending disaster text messages notifying the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases starting from the 7th, which has been done since 2020.

This is in accordance with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's recommendation to "not send disaster safety messages with simple confirmed case numbers."

The city decided to stop sending COVID-19 confirmed case disaster safety messages considering the increased user fatigue caused by repeated transmission focused on the number of confirmed cases and the decreased effectiveness of disaster safety messages for natural disasters and other emergencies.

Therefore, disaster safety messages will be sent mainly for urgent and necessary matters such as quarantine measures or special issues.

However, statistics such as the current status of new COVID-19 confirmed cases can be checked through the Jeongeup City Public Health Center website.

A city official said, "We are stopping the text messages to reduce citizens' fatigue caused by long-lasting disaster safety messages, but since COVID-19 is not over, please follow personal quarantine rules for the health and safety of citizens."
