Damyang-gun Hosts '2023 New Bamboo Festival' for the First Time in 4 Years

Various Content Prepared, Held from May 3 to May 7 at Chuseong Stadium and Gwanbangjerim Area

Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 2nd that it held a board meeting of the Damyang Bamboo Festival Committee to discuss the direction and gather opinions for the 2023 Damyang Bamboo Festival and finalized the promotion schedule.

This year's Damyang Bamboo Festival will be held under the new festival name "2023 New Bamboo Festival" from May 3 to May 7 for five days at Chuseong Stadium and the Gwanbangjerim area, providing a festival venue where everyone can enjoy various contents together.

First, the main stage will be moved to the outdoor music hall inside Chuseong Stadium, creating a space where visitors can relax comfortably while enjoying performances along with food booths.

Additionally, a singing contest and various competitions involving local residents will be held to prepare a harmonious festival where residents and tourists become one.

In particular, to link the festival with local residents' income, a sales booth for agricultural and specialty products will be operated to promote a profit-generating festival, and a festival venue will be created by discovering new programs together with local youth and university students.

To transition into a stay-type festival, nightscape lighting and photo zones will be installed, and night tourism contents such as night experience programs spanning generations, EDM performances, and sales of traditional Damyang liquors will be strengthened.

County Governor Byeongno Lee said, "Since the Bamboo Festival, Damyang's representative festival, is being held for the first time in four years, we will organize more diverse programs to increase satisfaction," and added, "We will do our best to prepare for a safe and enjoyable festival during the remaining period."
