Various Activities to Connect K-pop with Global Listeners
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The country with the highest number of visits to the K-pop introduction section on the world's largest music streaming platform was found to be India.
On the 2nd, Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform, announced key achievements including this data to commemorate its 2nd anniversary of entering the Korean market.
Last year, the country that visited the 'K-Pop Hub,' which introduces all Korean music including K-pop to listeners worldwide, the most was India, followed by Indonesia, the United States, Japan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Mexico, Brazil, Thailand, and Taiwan.
The most streamed playlist on the K-Pop Hub was 'K-Pop ON!' which recorded over 700 million streams last year. 'K-Pop ON!' is a playlist featuring popular K-pop songs and has more than 4.5 million followers.
Spotify also explained that playlists such as 'Korean OSTs' (over 1.4 million followers), 'Trenchil K-R&B' (over 820,000 followers), and 'In the K-Indie' (over 420,000 followers) have gained widespread popularity.
The number of Korean singers registered on Spotify's artist-exclusive platform 'Spotify for Artists' (S4A) increased by 75% compared to before entering the Korean market, and the number of 'Canvas' (short visual content uploaded by artists) posted by these artists increased by 493% during the same period.
Over the past two years, Spotify has supported various artists, promoting groups like NMIXX and Sol through the rookie singer support program 'Radar Korea,' and launching the Korean hip-hop promising artist support program 'K Hip-Hop Rookies.' Recently, they also promoted BLACKPINK and NewJeans at FC Barcelona's home stadium, 'Spotify Camp Nou.'
