[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Domestic mobile carriers have launched a customer acquisition battle through Samsung Electronics' ambitious product, the 'Galaxy S23.' Rated as the highest performance among all Galaxy S series to date, carriers are competing in sales by offering various events such as special edition production and pop-up store openings.
SK Telecom announced on the 2nd that it will release special limited editions of the Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23 Ultra in collaboration with Starbucks and BMW Korea, with pre-orders starting from the 7th.
First, the ‘Galaxy S23·S23 Ultra Starbucks Edition,’ introduced in partnership with Starbucks Korea, is designed with Starbucks' iconic ‘star’ as the motif. This is the first smartphone-based collaboration approved by both Starbucks Korea and Starbucks headquarters.
It features four limited edition desk items including the Starbucks Elma Tumbler, smart charging stand, desk mat, and desk calendar, along with exclusive themes and boot-up videos unique to the Starbucks Edition.
Additionally, a custom-made dedicated Starbucks app provides one free drink coupon, and until June 30, customers who pay via Siren Order through the Starbucks app will receive 23 Starbucks Rewards stars as a special benefit.
The retail price of the Starbucks Edition is 1,271,600 KRW (including VAT), and the Galaxy S23 Ultra Starbucks Edition is priced at 1,716,000 KRW (including VAT).
SKT will also introduce the ‘Galaxy S23 Ultra BMW M Edition’ in collaboration with BMW M, a flagship smartphone edition. Under the concept ‘THE ULTIMATE MACHINES,’ it aims to embody the ultimate driving machine.
The package includes a specially crafted die-cast package, phone case, keyring, seven BMW history emblems that can be used, an analog clock for vehicle and stand use, an air pump, letter stickers, a BMW photobook, and posters.
When powered on, the Galaxy S23 Ultra BMW M Edition plays a dedicated boot-up video featuring the BMW M engine sound and provides an exclusive theme.
It also comes pre-installed with ‘BMW Vantage,’ BMW’s lifestyle membership app. Buyers of the BMW M Edition will receive a ‘Starter Pack Voucher’ for the BMW Driving Center until June 30.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra BMW M Edition is limited to 1,000 units and is priced at 1,727,000 KRW (including VAT).
LG Uplus will operate a pop-up store named ‘Ilsangbiilsangui Teum by U+ x Galaxy S23 Series Pop-up Fill & FEEL the Arcade’ from the 3rd to the 26th at the MZ generation communication community ‘Ilsangbiilsangui Teum by U+ (Teum).’
This pop-up store is designed as a photo spot using unique pop art and an experiential space where MZ generation customers can enjoy the mobile game ‘Battlegrounds Mobile,’ helping them fill their daily lives with color and energy.
Upon entering the first floor of Teum, visitors can see Kian84’s pop art work ‘Self-Portrait of Desire (2022),’ and in the living shop space, they can experience finding hidden devices inside boxes using the Samsung SmartThings Station. The rooftop section allows visitors to check the improved camera performance of the Galaxy S23 series.
From the 8th, the basement first floor will open a ‘Game Arcade’ experience zone that recreates the battleground from the Battlegrounds Mobile game. Visitors can experience Samsung Pay (membership registration service) optimized for the Galaxy S23 series and its enhanced gaming performance. Along with this, LG Uplus will hold an event for customers who join the Teum app, called ‘Teumteumi,’ to commemorate the operation of the Galaxy S23 pop-up store.
