[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] Samsung Electronics announced on the 31st that it has partnered with Oscar-winning film director and screenwriter Charlie Kaufman to release a short film shot with a Galaxy camera.
This partnership is part of the 'Filmed #withGalaxy' project, designed to inspire creativity among Galaxy users by having renowned filmmakers worldwide shoot films using Galaxy S series smartphones.
Previously, British director Joe Wright and Chinese director Sha Mo (沙漠) showcased films shot with the 'Galaxy S21 Ultra.'
Director Kaufman, well known for films such as 'Eternal Sunshine' and 'Synecdoche, New York,' utilized the various video shooting features offered by the 'Galaxy S22 Ultra' to complete a short film with outstanding visual beauty and sharp detail.
The newly released short film, 'Jackals and Fireflies,' was inspired by the works of poet Eva H.D. Through this piece, Director Kaufman expressed his reflections and affection for New York, USA, in his unique style.
Cinematographer Chayse Irvin vividly captured the beautiful nightscape of New York as if seen in person, using the excellent night shooting capabilities of the 'Galaxy S22 Ultra.' Director Kaufman expressed satisfaction, saying, “Shooting with a Galaxy smartphone is an effective approach to realizing a film,” and “The finished work is very beautiful.”
'Jackals and Fireflies' will be exclusively unveiled on February 1 (local time) at the 'Galaxy Experience Space' in San Francisco, where the 'Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2023' event will take place. It will also be presented to the public later through a New York premiere event featuring Director Kaufman.
