Dongwha Pharm Launches Herbal Cold Medicine 'Buchaepyo Sipsintang' Containing Herbal Ingredients

[Asia Economy Reporter Myunghwan Lee] Dongwha Pharm announced on the 31st that it has launched 'Buchaepyo Sipsintang,' a premium herbal cold medicine.

Sipsintang is a traditional herbal cold medicine deeply rooted in history, recorded in various ancient texts such as the 'Donguibogam' and the 'Annals of King Sejong.' Buchaepyo Sipsintang means a decoction made by boiling about ten miraculous medicinal herbs and is an herbal cold medicine containing 11 herbal ingredients.

Dongwha Pharm explained that Buchaepyo Sipsintang contains Ma Huang, ginger, perilla leaf, and baekji, which can help relieve cold and flu symptoms, as well as galgeun and seungma, which have excellent antipyretic effects. Additionally, it contains xiangfu, peony, and cnidium, which are effective for headache relief, along with chenpi and licorice. The case design is inspired by the Ilwol Obongdo, a painting placed behind the royal throne (Eojwa) during the Joseon Dynasty, expressing a sense of luxury. Adults should take one bottle per dose, three times a day before or between meals. It is classified as an over-the-counter drug.

A Dongwha Pharm official said, "High fever and headache accompanying a cold are the most painful symptoms when catching a cold," adding, "We hope that Buchaepyo Sipsintang, developed based on Sipsintang recorded in many ancient texts with a long tradition, will effectively manage cold symptoms including body aches, headaches, and high fever."
