[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Incheon City announced on the 30th that starting from the 31st, the Jeonse Damage Support Center in Incheon will begin counseling services to support victims of Jeonse fraud in Incheon.
Incheon City has a larger scale of Jeonse damage compared to other regions, and victims had the inconvenience of having to receive counseling at the Jeonse Damage Support Center located in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul. According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the number of Jeonse deposit return guarantee accidents in Incheon last year was 1,556 cases, accounting for 29% of the nationwide total of 5,443 cases.
To improve this situation, the Ministry and Incheon City promoted the establishment of a regional damage support center in the form of a cooperative model involving specialized organizations such as HUG, the Korea Legal Aid Corporation, and LH. At the Incheon Jeonse Damage Support Center, victims can receive services such as verification and issuance of Jeonse damage confirmation certificates, guidance on financial and emergency housing support, legal counseling, and legal aid guidance and application.
The Ministry plans to actively consider installing regional Jeonse Damage Support Centers with local governments in areas with severe Jeonse damage and demand.
