Preparation for Traditional Events from the 21st to the 24th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Koo Dae-sun] Gyeongju Expo Grand Park has prepared a rich 'Seollal Traditional Play Festival' event to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
This event will be held daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Goksuwon area within the park from the 21st to the 24th during the Lunar New Year holiday period.
The Seollal Traditional Play Festival offers various programs including traditional play experiences, performances, Hanbok experience (paid), and prize events.
First, the traditional play experiences include Tuho throwing, Jegichagi, Yutnori, and Hangung experience, expected to provide family visitors with meaningful experiences and joyful memories.
The performance program features a 30-minute trot performance, a traditional Korean popular song, at noon, and a 30-minute acoustic guitar performance at 2 p.m., enlivening the visitors to the park.
The paid Hanbok experience costs 5,000 won per hour. Visitors who wear beautiful Hanbok and upload their photos on their Instagram with the hashtag (#GyeongjuExpo), then show it to the on-site (photo) staff, will receive an instant commemorative photo.
The most anticipated prize event of this Lunar New Year is prepared to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit with 'King of Long Jumps' and 'King of Jegichagi' events, symbolizing rabbits' long jumps. The 'King of Long Jumps' will be determined by the longest standing long jump, with prizes and souvenirs awarded accordingly. The 'King of Jegichagi' will be awarded based on the highest number of kicks.
Prizes include rechargeable hand warmers, foldable hand carts (shopping carts), rabbit-shaped plaster air fresheners, rabbit piggy banks, and Gyeongju Expo commemorative stickers. The prize events will be held for about 30 minutes before and after the performances.
In addition to the Traditional Play Festival, Gyeongju Expo Grand Park boasts a vast 170,000-pyeong (560,000㎡) forest and eco-friendly space, offering visitors a chance to heal and relax.
Visitors can enjoy various attractions such as 'Gyeongju Tower,' which offers a panoramic view of Bomun Lake in Gyeongju; 'Solgeo Art Museum,' where visitors become part of the artwork; 'Brilliant Light of Silla,' which recreates Silla cultural heritage with light; 'Bium Meditation Path,' Korea's first barefoot trail; and 'Luminite,' a nighttime experiential content woven with myths and legends, providing education, fun, experience, and healing all in one place.
Ryu Hee-rim, CEO of Gyeongju Expo Grand Park, said, “We hope families who reunite during the Lunar New Year holiday visit Gyeongju Expo Park to enjoy and heal, even if just for a short time.”
