Lee Ufan's 'From Line' and Other Works Worth About 8 Billion Won Exhibited
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The first art auction of the Year of the Rabbit will be held at K Auction.
K Auction announced on the 8th that it will present a total of 84 pieces worth approximately 8 billion KRW at the January auction held on the 18th.
This auction features the masterpiece 'From Line No. 77072' (1977) by the great artist Lee Ufan, estimated at 700 million to 1 billion KRW. Works by representative Korean abstract artists such as Kim Whanki, Yoo Youngkuk, Park Seo-bo, Ha Chonghyun, Kim Goorim, Lee Geonyong, Lee Bae, Jeon Kwangyoung, and Jung Changseop are also prominently featured in this auction.
In particular, Jung Changseop's 1970s works, when his painting spirit was fully conceived, 'Won' (highest estimate 100 million KRW) and 'Ear 78-W' (highest estimate 80 million KRW) will find new owners together.
Works by leading female artists in the Korean art scene such as Chun Kyungja, Choi Wookyoung, Noh Eun-nim, and Lee Sukja also attract attention. Lee Sukja's 2006 work 'Eve's Barley Field' is estimated at 70 million to 100 million KRW.
To welcome the new year, works featuring the theme of 'Moon Jar,' symbolizing abundance, health, and fortune, include Choi Youngwook's 'Karma' (estimated 25 million to 44 million KRW) and Kwon Daeseop's 'Moon Jar' (estimated 20 million to 50 million KRW), both seeking new owners.
Overseas artworks include pieces by Yayoi Kusama, Mel Bochner, Nicolas Party, Ayako Rokkaku, Maki Hosokawa, and Jordi Ribas. In the category of traditional art, works such as 'Landscape with Figures' by Geomjae Jeong Seon are also exhibited.
The auction items can be viewed at the K Auction exhibition hall from the 7th to the 18th. Preview viewing is free and available without reservation.
