Korea Consumer Agency, 455 Consultation Cases Received
The Korea Consumer Agency announced on the 6th that it has issued a consumer damage advisory due to an increase in complaints related to the online shopping mall Momagage (Mom & Mart).
Momagage offers coffee products at prices significantly lower than the market rate as bait products, but fails to properly deliver the ordered items or delays refunds.
In December last year, 455 complaints related to Momagage were received at the 1372 Consumer Counseling Center, most of which were about delivery and refund delays. In particular, poor communication with the company raises concerns about the spread of damages.
The Consumer Agency advised consumers to be cautious when using shopping malls with prices much lower than the market rate and to use credit cards rather than cash when ordering. If consumers suffer damages from this company, they are advised to contact the 1372 Consumer Counseling Center for response measures and to immediately request payment cancellation from their credit card company.
The Daejeon Jung-gu Office, the local government in charge of Momagage, recommended corrective action for violations of the Electronic Commerce Act, and the Consumer Agency requested the payment agency to consider contract termination.
