"Apologies to Customers... Efforts for Stable Service"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] The cause of the KT wired internet service outage that occurred on the 2nd in some areas of Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam was identified as a malfunction in the DNS (Domain Name System) access switch.
KT stated, "At 2:25 PM on the 2nd, we confirmed that some customers experienced connection issues due to an increase in DNS traffic caused by a malfunction in the DNS access switch. At 2:42 PM, we rerouted the DNS in the affected areas to a backup. The service was restored to normal at 2:51 PM."
DNS is a device that helps users' terminals find destinations such as platforms and websites.
The affected service was wired internet, while other services such as wireless, Internet TV (IPTV), and internet phone operated normally.
Customer inquiries related to this service outage were counted at approximately 1,400.
KT expressed, "We apologize to customers who experienced inconvenience," and added, "KT will strive harder to provide stable services."
