[Asia Economy Reporter Han Yeju] LG Electronics is partnering with A-Sleep, a sleep diagnosis specialized sleep tech company, to develop next-generation customized smart home appliances optimized for customers' sleep conditions.
On the 26th, LG Electronics announced that on the 23rd, it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for 'research cooperation in the field of sleep' at the LG Electronics Gasan R&D Campus in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, attended by Oh Segi, Vice President and Head of LG Electronics H&A Research Center, and Lee Dongheon, CEO of A-Sleep.
A-Sleep is a sleep tech company that diagnoses sleep stages through breathing sounds during sleep based on AI technology and provides various sleep services. This technology can measure sleep stages in any environment as long as there is a device equipped with a microphone, such as a smartphone, smart TV, or speaker. The advantage is that it can measure customers' sleep conditions without wearing separate devices.
LG Electronics plans to research and develop various products and services incorporating A-Sleep's sleep diagnosis technology in the future. According to customers' individual sleep conditions and patterns such as bedtime, sleep, and waking, the next-generation smart home appliances will operate in the optimal mode automatically and provide customized services, offering a new customer experience.
A-Sleep will participate in CES 2023 held in Las Vegas, USA, to exhibit a smart bedroom environment demo composed of sleep diagnosis technology and LG Electronics' premium home appliances.
Oh Segi, Vice President and Head of LG Electronics H&A Research Center, said, "By applying A-Sleep's simple and accurate sleep diagnosis technology, we will introduce differentiated smart home appliances that dramatically improve customers' quality of life."
