[Asia Economy reporters Lee Ji-eun and Park Joon-yi] Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, raised his voice regarding the indictment of his close aide Jeong Jin-sang, the party leader’s political coordination chief, saying, "It was a predictable outcome based on the predetermined steps set by the political prosecution," and expressed confidence that the truth will be revealed in court.

On the afternoon of the 9th, Lee met with reporters at the National Assembly and stated, "I believe the truth will be uncovered in court and my innocence will be proven." The prosecution on the same day indicted Jeong on charges of bribery under the Special Act and detained him.

On the same day, Lee also took a critical stance on social media, calling the prosecution’s indictment "the relentless Lee Jae-myung bashing by the political prosecution." He said, "The prosecution seems determined to investigate me directly. They have scrutinized me for 10 years, so let them try again thoroughly." He added, "I reiterate that I have not taken a single won of personal gain."

He said, "The only things those incompetent and immoral people can do are ‘bashing Lee Jae-myung’ to eliminate political opponents and ‘divide and conquer’ to destroy the opposition party," and "I will boldly move forward for the people’s livelihood and democracy, breaking through the oppression of the prosecutorial dictatorship regime."
