[Asia Economy reporters Yu Je-hoon and Song Seung-seop] Lim Young-jin, CEO of Shinhan Card, said on the 8th, "Three years ago, I talked about the dream of Shinhan Financial Group, but this time I want to talk about the evolution of the financial ecosystem," adding, "I will talk about the changes and innovations in the financial ecosystem."
Lim met with reporters before the final interview of the CEO nomination committee held at Shinhan Financial Group headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, in the morning, and said, "I have prepared well, so I will do my best in the presentation (PT)."
Lim first said, "It has been 37 years since I joined Shinhan Bank, and preparing for this interview gave me an opportunity to reflect on my 37 years of work life," adding, "Just as taking exams improves learning ability, preparing for the interview as a CEO candidate has given me a chance to see far ahead and grow personally."
Lim was also included in the shortlist of CEO candidates and took the final interview three years ago in 2019. At that time, he mentioned the 'dream of Shinhan Financial.'
Regarding the vision he will present in this year's interview, Lim said, "I will talk about the changes and innovations in the financial ecosystem," and added, "I will discuss three main pillars: fundamental changes in the financial ecosystem, changes in the ecosystem in the digital transformation sector, and changes in the ecosystem in the culture, environment, social, and governance (ESG) sectors."
Meanwhile, Shinhan Financial held the CEO nomination committee in the morning and conducted the final interviews with the shortlisted candidates: Cho Yong-byeong, chairman of Shinhan Financial Group; Jin Ok-dong, president of Shinhan Bank; and Lim. The candidate selected as the final nominee will be inaugurated as the next CEO after the regular shareholders' meeting in March next year.
