[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] CU announced on the 8th that Lotteria Yangnyeom Gamja has surpassed Shrimp Snack for the first time in 10 years as the top-selling snack among convenience store differentiated products.

Lotteria Yangnyeom Gamja became a hot topic on social networking services (SNS) and ranked first in sales just five days after its launch. The highest daily sales reached about 23,000 units, which is twice the amount of regular snacks. CU's differentiated snack sales increased by 71.1% compared to the previous year from the 1st to the 6th of this month.

As the product name suggests, this item is a snack made from the seasoned fries sold at Lotteria. CU, Lotte Confectionery, and Lotteria agreed to develop a convenience store snack that allows customers to easily and conveniently enjoy the seasoned fries, which are usually ordered together when eating hamburgers, anytime. The three companies collaborated for about six months focusing on the new transformation of seasoned fries and expanding the convenience store snack category, from product planning and recipe development to launch.

A BGF Retail official said, “Based on our product capabilities that have repeatedly produced big hits through collaborations with various existing brands, Lotteria Yangnyeom Gamja has now become a huge success,” adding, “CU will continue to introduce products that provide customers with new fun and satisfaction through unique collaborations reflecting the latest trends.”
