Equipped with Sophisticated Design and Advanced Cutting-Edge Technology
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Jeep completed the lineup of its brand luxury flagship sport utility vehicles (SUVs) by launching the ‘All-New Grand Cherokee’ and ‘All-New Grand Cherokee 4xe’ in Korea on the 7th.
The ‘Grand Cherokee’ has maintained the title of the ‘most awarded SUV in history’ with over 700 awards since the first generation was unveiled at the 1992 Detroit Motor Show. The completely redesigned fifth generation ‘All-New Grand Cherokee’ follows the brand’s first three-row model, the ‘All-New Grand Cherokee L,’ and now completes the most diverse lineup among luxury SUVs with the addition of the two-row five-seater ‘All-New Grand Cherokee’ and the PHEV-powered ‘All-New Grand Cherokee 4xe.’
Jake Auman, President of Stellantis Korea, said, “The All-New Grand Cherokee and 4xe are filled with an incomparable heritage, featuring the most luxurious exterior ever, an interior that blends technology and beauty, Quadra-Lift air suspension, and Jeep’s legendary 4x4 system that you can trust in any situation,” adding, “I am confident that these two models will create a new wave in the Korean luxury SUV market.”
The All-New Grand Cherokee has become the most premium Grand Cherokee ever through its modern evolution. The roofline that slopes downward towards the rear improves aerodynamic performance and efficiency without affecting the vehicle’s spaciousness and usability. The lowered beltline and expanded glass area allow more light into the interior and enhance external visibility.
The two-row Grand Cherokee is 5mm wider and 5mm lower in height compared to the three-row Grand Cherokee L. The overall length is 4,900mm (up to 5,010mm), which is 320mm shorter than the three-row Grand Cherokee L.
The ‘All-New Grand Cherokee’ is offered in Limited and Overland trims, while the plug-in hybrid model ‘All-New Grand Cherokee 4xe’ is available in Limited and Summit Reserve trims, each with two variants.
The luxurious next-generation interior of the All-New Grand Cherokee has evolved with handcrafted materials and modern convenience features. The front panel is equipped with a redesigned center stack for better driver accessibility and a 10.25-inch color cluster display. Additionally, the popular T-map navigation system in Korea is integrated into the 10.1-inch touchscreen display to enhance customer convenience.
Premium customizable LED lighting with day/night settings is standard on all trims. The Overland and Summit Reserve trims feature multi-color ambient LED lighting that creates a subtle, comfortable, and luxurious atmosphere.
The All-New Grand Cherokee introduces Jeep’s first-ever standard connected service, ‘Jeep Connect.’ This offers a special experience by connecting the vehicle to a smartphone, enabling real-time vehicle location tracking, various remote control systems, and an SOS system for emergency situations. Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity is included, and the Summit Reserve trim is equipped with a wireless charging pad to further enhance connectivity.
The 3.6L V6 gasoline engine in the two-row All-New Grand Cherokee delivers a powerful output of 286 horsepower (6,400 rpm) and a maximum torque of 35.1 kg·m (4,000 rpm). An upgraded Engine Stop & Start system (ESS) is also standard. The 8-speed automatic transmission, harmonized with the 3.6L engine, maintains efficient rpm across all speed ranges through multi-gear ratios, improving quietness, acceleration responsiveness, and efficiency.
The All-New Grand Cherokee 4xe is the first Grand Cherokee to offer a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. The 4xe propulsion system combines two electric motors, a 400V battery pack, a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and an 8-speed automatic transmission to maximize efficiency and performance. Overall, the 4xe system delivers 272 horsepower (202 kW) and 40.8 kg·m of torque, with a pure electric driving range of 33 km on a full charge. Furthermore, three E-Select modes?Hybrid, Electric, and e-Save?support driving conditions best suited for commuting, off-road, and long-distance travel.
The 4x4 system applies Quadra-Trac I or Quadra-Trac II depending on the trim, and introduces the Selec-Terrain terrain management system that offers five selectable modes based on driving conditions. The Overland and Summit Reserve trims are equipped with Jeep’s best-in-class Quadra-Lift air suspension featuring electronically controlled semi-active damping, enhancing driving stability.
The prices are 85.5 million KRW for the ‘All-New Grand Cherokee’ Limited, 93.5 million KRW for the Overland, and for the ‘All-New Grand Cherokee 4xe,’ 103.2 million KRW for the Limited and 121.2 million KRW for the Summit Reserve.
