The 'Hwarang Military Merit Medal' is awarded to those who have demonstrated outstanding merit in battle. It is presented to the bereaved families through the Ministry of National Defense and the Army Headquarters' 'Korean War Military Merit Medal Recovery Project.'
The bereaved families who received the medals expressed, "We lost our eldest son and deeply mourned, but we feel that we have somewhat eased our late father's sorrow," and "We are pleased to be able to show this meaningful medal this year."
County Governor Woo Seung-hee said, "We are grateful to the deceased and their families who devoted themselves to the country during the Korean War, and we will continue to honor their noble spirit of sacrifice and do our best to respect the bereaved families."
