[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] The strike at Seoul National University Hospital, which had been announced as indefinite, has ended following an agreement between the hospital union and management.

On the 26th, Seoul National University Hospital announced that it reached an agreement on the 2022 wages and collective bargaining agreement with the labor union and held a preliminary signing ceremony at the first conference room of the Korean Medical Association building at 10 p.m. the previous day.

The main points of the agreement include a 1.4% wage increase based on the total amount, efforts to strengthen public healthcare for pediatric patients, measures to address the climate crisis, improvements in working conditions for shift workers, and workforce reinforcement.

The Seoul National University Hospital union went on strike from the 23rd until the previous day, demanding workforce reinforcement and other issues. Initially, a three-day limited strike was planned, but on the morning of the 25th, it was changed to an indefinite full strike.

Seoul National University Hospital explained that after 51 rounds of negotiations over three months since August 17, the wage and collective bargaining agreement was finalized. The hospital stated, "With the agreement reached, the union will stop the strike, and the hospital will promptly normalize operations and devote itself to its responsibilities as the national central hospital."
