AI Technology Competition to be Held Until the 12th of Next Month
Establishment of Dedicated AI Organization 'AI Convergence Technology Center' and Operation of 'AI Community'

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Yeju] Hyundai Genuine has embarked on securing artificial intelligence (AI) technology and talent to target the future unmanned construction machinery market.

Hyundai Genuine announced on the 25th that it held an AI technology competition called the 'AI Data Challenge' for employees and general participants. The competition, themed "Development of a Construction Machinery Oil Quality Classification Model Using AI Technology," will run until December 12, with the final winners to be announced on December 30.

Based on the models selected through the AI Data Challenge, Hyundai Genuine plans to develop and commercialize technology that can detect the oil operating condition and autonomously diagnose equipment abnormalities. Additionally, university student winners will receive bonus points when applying for jobs at the three construction machinery companies (Hyundai Genuine, Hyundai Construction Equipment, Hyundai Doosan Infracore), aiming to secure outstanding talent.

In April this year, Hyundai Genuine also launched a dedicated AI organization overseeing AI technology for the three construction machinery companies. Named the 'AI Convergence Technology Center,' this organization prioritizes securing core AI technologies for the world's first unmanned excavator development and is engaged in activities such as building an AI Data Hub, discovering and supporting AI projects related to construction machinery and industrial vehicles, and operating an AI Community.

In particular, by operating an AI community of about 150 members, it is intensively nurturing in-house AI experts through AI algorithm lectures and practice, education on the latest technology trends, and sharing of case studies, while applying and disseminating AI technology in the field.

A Hyundai Genuine official said, "The future construction machinery market will establish unmanned technology integrated with AI as a core keyword," adding, "We are making every effort to secure core technologies and discover excellent talent."

Meanwhile, Hyundai Genuine plans to complete the development of an integrated platform for the three construction machinery companies by 2025 and launch an integrated model equipped with AI smart technology.
