[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Gwangju Police Agency announced on the 17th that it has conducted jurisdictional adjustments to ensure prompt response to 112 emergency calls.
As a follow-up measure to the reorganization of the local police work system, the Gwangju Police Agency carried out jurisdictional adjustments considering factors such as ▲ease of dispatch upon reports and security demand to provide better security services.
Accordingly, the area around Sangmu Beodeul Jugong Apartments, previously under the jurisdiction of Sangmu Precinct, was reassigned to Dongcheon Police Substation; Yousquare, Shinsegae Department Store, and Kia Plant 2, previously under Dongcheon Police Substation, were reassigned to Hwajeong Precinct; and Kumho Elementary School and nearby residential areas, previously under Hwajeong Precinct, were reassigned to Kumho Precinct.
With this adjustment, adjacent precincts and substations will now oversee the areas of Sangmu Beodeul Jugong Apartments, Yousquare, and Kumho Elementary School, which is expected to enable faster response to 112 emergency calls compared to before the adjustment.
Additionally, the imbalance in security demand, which had been concentrated on Sangmu Precinct, has been partially resolved, allowing for the provision of higher quality security services to local residents.
A police official stated, "This jurisdictional adjustment was possible because the redeployment of local police personnel was carried out beforehand, and it is expected to improve residents' access to security and shorten the arrival time for 112 calls, thereby strengthening on-site response capabilities."
