Naver Joins 'EV100'... Transition to Electric Vehicles by 2030

[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Choi] Naver announced on the 26th that it has joined the global initiative ‘EV100,’ which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through the transition to eco-friendly vehicles, becoming the first domestic internet platform company and the second global internet platform company to do so.

EV100 is a global eco-friendly initiative led by the multinational nonprofit organization The Climate Group, based in London, UK. It is a campaign to convert all company-owned and leased vehicles to eco-friendly vehicles by 2030.

Naver plans to convert 100% of its company-owned and leased vehicles to electric vehicles by 2030 and install electric vehicle charging stations at all its office buildings. Currently, Naver has completed the installation of a total of 82 electric vehicle charging facilities at Green Factory and 1784, and is also transitioning its work vehicles to electric vehicles.

With this EV100 membership, Naver has become the first internet platform company worldwide to join both RE100 and EV100. Naver joined RE100 in August, becoming the first domestic internet platform company to do so.

Dong-Ah Lim, Naver’s Head of External and ESG Policy, said, “By promoting the spread of eco-friendly vehicles, we will reduce direct greenhouse gas emissions from vehicle fuel use, and reduce indirect greenhouse gas emissions from electricity through the expansion of renewable energy, leading the way as a global ESG leader.”
