Event Hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT... 8th Edition This Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 25th that the '2022 Next-Generation Media Week' event will open on the 1st of next month. On the opening day, Yang Ji-eul, CEO of TVING, will deliver the keynote speech on the topic of 'Growth Strategy for Domestic Over-The-Top (OTT) Services.'
This event is hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and jointly organized by the Korea Communications Agency, Korea Radio Promotion Association, and the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation. It will be held from the 1st to the 4th of next month at Nurikkum Square in Sangam-dong, Seoul.
This year's theme is 'Transformation of Media and Content in the Era of Digital Great Transition.' The event will consist of a total of 11 programs, including conferences, talk concerts, technology exchange meetings, investment briefings, and job experience exhibitions, covering three major digital media fields: OTT, metaverse media, and creator media.
At the opening ceremony, Werner Bolhaus, Executive Director and leader of the media industry sector at consulting firm PwC, will give a lecture on 'Changes in Media Industry Dynamics and Power Shifts.' CEO Yang Ji-eul will present on 'Domestic OTT Growth Strategy.' A joint performance by the late singer Im Yoon-taek, whose appearance and voice have been restored using artificial intelligence (AI) technology, and the group Ulala Session is also prepared.
During this period, award ceremonies and conferences for the pay-TV industry will be held, including the '2022 Cable TV Broadcasting Awards' hosted by the Korea Cable TV Broadcasting Association and 'GeMeCon 2022' hosted by the Korea IPTV Broadcasting Association.
The event is open to anyone through pre-registration and on-site registration. Pre-registration is available via the official website and the QR codes on promotional posters. A prize draw event for pre-registered participants is also being operated.
