According to the city on the 20th, Mayor Lee visited the National Assembly (Members' Office Building) on the same day to focus on last-minute persuasion to prevent cuts to projects increased at the standing committee stage and to add budgets for key projects that were not reflected.
The mayor met with National Assembly member Yoon Joon-byung from his constituency, members of the Special Budget and Accounts Committee Jeong Un-cheon, Im Oh-kyung, Ko Young-in, Chairman Yoon Kwan-seok of the Industry, Trade, Energy, Small and Medium Venture Business Committee, as well as secretaries Kim Han-jung and Park Young-soon to explain the necessity and validity of Jeongeup's key pending projects.
In particular, he asked for special attention to the 20 billion KRW project for establishing shared infrastructure necessary for the concentration and ecosystem construction of agricultural and livestock microorganism industry companies, the 19.5 billion KRW Jeongeup Cultural Heritage Visitor Center construction project, and the 8 billion KRW "Commercial District Renaissance" project to revitalize the local commercial district.
He also requested active interest and support for the 6.6 billion KRW Sanoe Wonjongsan rural village sewage installation project aimed at improving village environment and public hygiene for residents, and the 17.3 billion KRW Deokcheon treatment district sewage pipeline installation project.
Additionally, on the same day’s visit to the National Assembly, he contacted by phone the National Assembly members affiliated with Jeonbuk and Jeongeup, whom he could not meet due to the standing committee schedule, to actively request their cooperation in securing the national budget necessary for promoting Jeongeup City’s pending projects.
Mayor Lee Hak-su said, “Until December 2, when the 2023 government budget is finalized, I will concentrate all administrative power on securing national funds and work in cooperation with Jeonbuk Province, local National Assembly members, and political circles within the province to secure more national funds.”
