Dongguk University Distinguished Professor and Poet with Over 50 Years of Experience
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 6th that poet Moon Jeong-hee has been appointed as the director of the National Korean Literature Museum. The term is three years, until October 2025.
Director Moon has been engaged in creative activities for over 50 years and has served as a distinguished professor in the Department of Creative Writing at Dongguk University, president of the Korean Poets Association, and director of the Literature Translation Institute of Korea. A Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism official explained, "She has been serving as a director since the establishment of the National Korean Literature Museum foundation in 2019, demonstrating a high level of organizational understanding and professional expertise."
The National Korean Literature Museum is an institution aimed at preserving the heritage of Korean literature and promoting literary activities. With its opening scheduled for 2025, efforts are being focused on data compilation and promotion. The Ministry official stated, "This is an important time for the new director's internal and external roles," adding, "We expect her to provide the right direction based on her accumulated experience in the literary community and academia."
