[Asia Economy Reporter Han Yeju] LG Display is changing the working system for domestic production workers from the existing 4-shift 3-team system to a 4-shift 2-team system.
According to the company on the 28th, LG Display recently announced through an internal bulletin board that starting in December, the working system for domestic production workers at its Paju plant in Gyeonggi and Gumi plant in Gyeongbuk will be changed to a 4-shift 2-team system.
The 4-shift 2-team system introduced by LG Display operates on a schedule of 3 days working followed by 3 days off, increasing the annual days off from the existing 103 days to 190 days.
In the 4-shift 2-team system, the workforce is divided into 4 teams: 2 teams work 12 hours each for day and night shifts, while the other 2 teams are off. Compared to the existing 4-shift 3-team system, the daily working hours increase from 8 hours to 12 hours, a 4-hour increase, but the total annual working hours remain the same.
An LG Display official said, "This is to reduce the number of consecutive working days and ensure sufficient rest," adding, "We reflected the opinions of the employees."
