Award in Architecture Category for Design Concept Section
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Hyundai Elevator announced on the 28th that its modular elevator lighting system EL-KIT, which allows customers to create their own interior designs, won the Winner award in the Architecture category of the Concept section at the Red Dot Design Award, one of the world's top three design competitions.
EL-KIT is a system that enables the free installation of five types of lighting?Multi Down, Linear, Spot, Tube, and Step Sensor?on eight tracks located on the elevator walls and ceiling. Each light is magnetically attached, allowing customers to choose the installation location and quantity themselves.
A Hyundai Elevator official said, "This design introduces a DIY concept that allows customers to directly change the elevator interior environment, which is usually difficult to modify after installation," adding, "It also solves the operational restrictions that were inevitably required during interior maintenance."
The 2022 Red Dot Design Award received over 3,200 product entries from more than 50 countries worldwide. The judging criteria include innovation, aesthetics, feasibility, usefulness, production efficiency, and emotional appeal. Manager Dahang Lim of Hyundai Elevator, who attended the award ceremony held in Singapore on the 27th, said, "EL-KIT seems to have received favorable evaluations in terms of feasibility, functional flexibility, aesthetics, and emotional appeal."
