Gwangju City Council Begins Personnel Special Committee Activities for Gwangju Environment Corporation Chairman

Appointment of Two Experts... Reporting and Listening to Work Status

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Special Committee on Personnel Hearing for the Chairman of the Gwangju Environment Corporation of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council announced on the 15th that it has decided to appoint two experts in accordance with Article 41 of the 'Gwangju Metropolitan Council Basic Ordinance' and has officially begun its personnel special committee activities.

The appointed experts are Professor Lee Byung-kwon of the Department of Earth Environmental Science at Chonnam National University and Park Mi-kyung, co-chair of the Gwangju Environmental Movement Federation. They plan to provide consultations and guidance necessary for verifying the qualifications of the candidates.

Following the appointment of the experts, the personnel special committee listened to reports on the basic status of the Gwangju Environment Corporation, its management strategy system, and the major tasks carried out in 2022, thereby preliminarily identifying the work necessary for candidate personnel verification.

Chairman Jo Seok-ho stated, “As the Gwangju Environment Corporation is a key public enterprise that must take the lead in realizing a clean Gwangju, we will do our best to verify the candidate’s management capabilities and ensure transparency in personnel matters.”

Meanwhile, the personnel special committee is composed of seven members: Chairman Jo Seok-ho, Vice Chairman Choi Ji-hyun, and council members Kang Su-hoon, Park Pil-soon, Seo Yong-gyu, Shim Cheol-ui, and Lee Myung-no. The candidate personnel hearing is scheduled to be held on the 21st.
